TUFF GONG
“emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
none but ourselves can free our mind.”
as the lion who roared
melodic whispers –
redemption
is but a spliff
and a song
away
sweet
soulful
symphony
silky
smoke
slithers
a heavenly ascent
descending
vibrations
music soothes
spirits dance
bob marley
eternal
reggaes
rastafarian
angel
from Phil Turner:
ReplyDeleteWell, since I have an opinion about nearly everything, here are my thoughts on this poem. It could have been more original. It is simply too familiar and insubstantial to have any effect on me. Marley was above all else a philosopher. It is through his way of explaining the world that any poem about him should be written. A knowledge of his songs and where he grew up (Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica) should be more than enough to put some real heart into thoughts about this man.
